Upcoming Film Classics Programs: Sundays from 6 - 7 p.m. ET
09/07/08 - WHO WAS CHRISTOPHER PALMER?
Don't be too disappointed if you don't know, he was kind of a "behind-the-scenes" guy. But if you love motion picture music, he touched your life--and after listening to this show we think you'll agree that we all owe him a great debt.
09/14/08 - CONDUCTED BY JOHN MAUCERI
John Mauceri has made quite a number of splendid movie music recordings over the course of his career, and tonight we'll be sampling some of them—including selections by composers like John Williams, Max Steiner, Bernard Herrmann, John Corigliano, Jerry Goldsmith and Erich Korngold. (And, if we have time—a trip down the Yellow Brick Road!)
09/21/08 (1/2 hour)- QUO VADIS
This week we have a ½ hour show so we can bring you the "Artifacts" program from our friends at the Arts League of Michigan. In that 30 minutes, music from what Miklos Rozsa considered his finest "ancient epic" score: "Quo Vadis," written in 1950 for the film directed by Mervyn Leroy. We'll be listening to a recent recording featuring the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir conducted by Erich Kunzel.
09/28/08BAD PROGRAM
Music from "The Bad and the Beautiful" by David Raksin, "Bad Day at Black Rock" by Andre Previn, "The Bad Seed," by Alex North, "Tribute to a Bad Man," by Miklos Rozsa, and of course, "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly," by Ennio Morricone. We hope you'll have a good time listening to this one!
