An Afternoon in England

Chamber Music at the Scarab Club announces its next concert on Sunday, April 6th at 4 pm in the beautiful sanctuary of the Grosse Pointe Unitarian Church. The program includes 2 lovely sonatas for violin and piano by English composers Percy TURNBULL and Sir Henry WALFORD DAVIES. They will be performed by violinist Andrew Wu and pianist Joshua Marzan. Andrew Wu has been featured in many chamber works on the series and we’re very happy to have him back once again. Although this duo has performed together on numerous occasions, CMSC is thrilled to welcome pianist Joshua Marzan for the first time.
This concert will also feature flutist Dennis Carter performing The Pied Piper for flute and piccolo by Gordon JACOB and the POULENC Flute Sonata. Dennis most recently appeared as part of the fabulous flute quartet who played on CMSC’s special 25th celebration concert in June 2024. In April 2023, he joined us to perform the Suite for Flute, Violin, Cello and Piano by Richard STOEHR. It will be wonderful to hear him once again.

As always, each piece will be introduced by one of the musicians. This concert will also be followed by a reception with light refreshments.
