Chamber Music at the Scarab Club is thrilled to present its season opener,
a brunch concert, in Detroit’s historic Scarab Club! Enjoy a morning of delicious light brunch food and drink along with the incredible music of Lumino. The program will take place upstairs in the Lounge Gallery, taking advantage of the Scarab Club’s extraordinary 1870’s Pleyel piano. The ensemble will perform music of Menotti, Bolcom and Bartók.
Focusing on contemporary trios, living composers, and crossover genres, Lumino explores the boundaries of the chamber music genre in Southeast Michigan. Violinist Sonia Lee, clarinetist Lisa Raschiatore, and pianist John Etsell’s current repertoire includes works by composers Bolcom, Bartók, Burhans, Berg, Milhaud, Ives, Rorem, and Menotti, among many others. Lee and Raschiatore were originally introduced by composer and improviser Joel Peterson, and have frequently performed at his Detroit venue, Trinosophes. Other recital appearances include Pro Musica Detroit, the Schmier Recital Series, Chamber Music at the Scarab Club, and Madonna University.
As always, each piece will be introduced by one of the musicians. Refreshments will be served throughout the morning.
