Jazz Worship Service Featuring Guitarist Ron English and Ensemble

In honor and celebration of the nearby Detroit International Jazz Festival, Fort Street Presbyterian Church is thrilled to invite festival attendees and the broader community to a unique, jazz-inspired worship service on Sunday, September 1, at 11:00 AM. Fort Street pastors Sarah Logemann and Garrett Mostowski will preside over a reimagined worship experience that blends traditional elements with instrumental and vocal jazz, creating a one-hour service that celebrates the spiritual power and divine blessings of music. The service will feature a seven-person ensemble of Detroit jazz musicians and Festival performers led by acclaimed guitarist Ron English. The ensemble includes saxophonist James Hughes, trumpeter John Douglas, pianist Sven Anderson, bassist Jaribu Shahid, percussionist Renell Gonsalves, and singer Renee King-Jackson. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy coffee, tea, and snacks in the church’s Great Hall before the service.
