Once again, the Rochester Symphony Orchestra with Maestro Zeljko Milicevic takes the stage in Kiwanis’ “Music in the Park” series. Join us on Thursday, July 25, 2024, @ 7:00 p.m. at the bandshell in Rochester’s Municipal Park (400 Sixth Street, Rochester, MI). The first half features music to stir a patriot’s soul, beginning with baritone Larry Hicks (“National Anthem”). The “Armed Forces Salute” and Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever” follow. Next come selections from SOUTH PACIFIC and John Williams’ “Olympic Fanfare.” Sway to the rhythms of Anderson’s “Blue Tango” and Dvorak’s “Slavonic Dances.” Whew! After a brief intermission comes a tribute to Cole Porter, known to have composed close to 1,000 songs during his lifetime. We’ll see what music director Milicevic, has chosen, but “Anything Goes” “In the Still of the Night.” And by the end of the evening and “All Through the Night,” you’ll agree “I Get a Kick out of You,” Cole Porter; “I’ve Got You Under My Skin.” So, if you “Can-Can,” bring a seat or blanket, family and friends–even a picnic– for this musical celebration.
