Spectrum Orchestra is a community orchestra serving the greater Detroit Metro area. The group is composed of adult musicians who are interested in preparing and performing quality orchestral music. Their concert “All About That Cello” features Detroit Symphony Orchestra cellist Jeremy Crosmer playing Dvořák’s Cello Concert in B minor (Op. 104), one of the best known written in tribute to Dvořák’s sister-in-law, Josefina Kaunitzova. Also Gustav Holst’s “A Somerset Rhapsody” (Op. 21) which draws inspiration from the serene and idyllic landscapes of the English county of Somerset. And Norwegan composer Agathe Backer-Grøndahl’s “Scherzo for Orchestra”. She was considered Norway’s most prominent pianist of her time and wrote over 400 compositions. Her “Scherzo” was one of her earlier compositions and is full of energy and imagination. — Tickets: $15 adults / $12 Seniors /Children under 18 Free
