Felix Mendelssohn was amongst the greatest advocates for the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and worked tirelessly to bring this music before public again after a period of severe neglect following the master’s death. One of his most important efforts was an organ recital of Bach’s music given in St. Thomas Church, Leipzig in 1840 where Bach had been Kantor from 1723-1750. Jeremy David Tarrant recreates this program on the Cathedral’s grand pipe organ.
